Sweet Pea the Easter Monster
$6.00
This story begins with a witch, as many stories do. She was not good or bad, just somewhere in between. As for most things she cared for, they too fell in the space of being in between.
It happened on a Wednesday when our witch was taking an ambling stroll through her garden when her sharp eyes grew sharper. There was a patch of grass just a bit browner than the rest. It was a curious thing because she fed her garden (she won’t tell you with what) quite a bit, twice a day. Her garden was always wild and unruly and beastly beautiful. She tapped her chin. She squinted her eyes. She bustled back into her kitchen to make a special sort of soup (don’t ask her for the ingredients, she won’t say) and ladled it out onto the dry little patch. As if by magic, and of course it was magic, the grass seemed to turn a bit greener at the tips, a teeny, little wildflower struggled to lift its head, and soon a soft moss started growing, inching its way back to the bare, gray rocks. “Hmm,” she said, as she wasn’t a witch of many words. So, for the next night and day, she fed and fed and fed that patch of grass. One morning, she came out for her stroll and found a little green creature rolling this way and that. He was green as the grass and soft as the moss. Where the brown patch of grass once sat, there was a perfectly round hole in the ground. “Hmm,” the witch said. And that is how Sweet Pea came to be.
Everyone will think Sweet Pea is a bunny hiding in an egg! What a fun surprise they will find when they remove the egg. This year add something fun to your Easter baskets.
